What Makes Us Different from Other Cannabis Clubs in Barcelona

We built Barcelona Coffeeshop to feel like the kind of spot you would actually want to spend an afternoon in. What We Are Not
It is worth being clear about a few things. Barcelona Coffeeshop is not a coffeeshop in the Amsterdam sense. Nothing is sold to the general public. There is no street access, no walk in service, and no advertising of any product. The word coffeeshop in our name is a nod to the cultural roots of the cannabis association movement, not a description of a commercial activity.
We do not promote cannabis use, we do not solicit members on the street, and we do not work with promoters or third parties offering invitations in tourist areas. If someone offers to bring you to a club for a fee, that is not us and it is not legal.
The Cultural Side of Our Weed Club
Cannabis culture in Catalonia goes back decades and the association model has been part of Barcelona life since the late 1990s. The clubs have always had a cultural and educational dimension, hosting talks, small exhibitions, screenings and quiet community gatherings. This is the side of the club we care about most. A space to read, to talk, to share a meal, to listen to music, to spend time with people who treat each other well.
How to Become a Member
Spanish law makes cannabis clubs members only. That means we cannot let anyone in off the street and we do not advertise on La Rambla. To join Barcelona Coffeeshop you need to be 18 or older, bring a valid ID or passport, and either receive an invitation from us directly or be referred by an existing member.

- Wait for your invitation. We usually reply within a few hours during opening times.
- Show up with your ID, sign the membership form, and pay the annual fee.
- Walk in, sit down, light up.
